You were prepared for the baby. You weren’t prepared for the "Internal Shift.

A woman experiencing the internal identity shift of motherhood, representing the transition of matrescence and the support found in perinatal therapy at Anchor Point Therapy in Ontario.

Everyone tells you what to pack in your hospital bag, but no one prepares you for the way your internal world changes the moment you become a mother. You might find yourself trapped in a cycle of Perfectionism - trying to meet the impossible standards of the "perfect mom" while feeling like you’re drowning in the details. Or perhaps you’re struggling with a relentless "buzz" of Anxiety that makes it impossible to rest, even when the baby is finally sleeping.

Matrescence is a term used to describe the massive identity shift that rarely gets the emotional credit it deserves. Whether you’re navigating the physical and emotional waves of Pregnancy or you’re deep in the Postpartum trenches, I am here to help you find your footing. You don't have to "love every minute" to be a good mother. You just need a safe place to land.

The transition to motherhood often triggers old patterns of high-functioning anxiety and creates a heavy, invisible burden.

I work with women navigating the complexities of:

Where are you feeling stuck?

The Anchor Point Process: How we move forward

A woman with beachy waves looking happy and grounded, representing the emotional ease and self-acceptance achieved through individual therapy at Anchor Point Therapy.

Healing isn't about "fixing" you; it's about helping you return to yourself. My approach is relational and nervous system-informed, meaning we go beyond surface-level coping.

The Exhale: Our sessions are a "no-performance" zone. Whether you’re breastfeeding, wearing a sleeping baby, or finally taking a moment for yourself, we start by regulating your nervous system.

1

The Unpacking: e move through the Trauma or Anxiety that is keeping you stuck in "survival mode," using tools tailored for the postpartum brain.

2

The Reclaiming: We work on reclaiming your identity beyond "Mom." You’ll walk away with clearer boundaries, less guilt, and the ability to find your anchor in the middle of the transition.

Therapy That Goes Deeper Than "Just Coping"

I’m Kate, a Registered Social Worker (MSW, RSW) and EMDR therapist. I help millennial women break old patterns of perfectionism and anxiety so they can build a life that feels sustainable.

At Anchor Point Therapy, we prioritize deep, transformative work rather than just surface-level strategies. Whether we are using EMDR to process past wounds, doing inner-child work to understand where your need to please started, or using nervous system regulation to manage the anxiety of saying "no," I am here to help you find your footing again.

FAQ: Common Questions about Perinatal Therapy

What if my baby is with me during the session?

1

As a perinatal specialist, I am 100% baby-friendly. If you need to feed, soothe, or bounce your baby during our virtual session, please do. This is a real-life space, and I meet you exactly where you are.

Is this just "the baby blues"?

2

The "baby blues" typically resolve within two weeks. If you are feeling persistent Anxiety & Depression beyond that, or if you feel disconnected and "not like yourself," reaching out for support is a sign of strength, not a failure.

How is EMDR used in postpartum?

3

EMDR is incredibly effective for processing birth trauma or the "stuck" memories of fertility struggles. It helps lower the emotional "charge" of those memories so they no longer trigger a flight-or-fight response in your daily life.
