Does your "Yes" feel like a heavy, invisible burden?

Kate Bailey, MSW, RSW, providing trauma-informed therapy for millennial women struggling with the mental load of perfectionism, people-pleasing, and anxiety in Ontario.

On the outside, you’re the quintessential "high-achiever" - the educated professional, the reliable partner, or the new mom navigating the impossible mental load of parenthood. You’ve mastered the art of looking capable, but the internal reality is a relentless "shit show" of perfectionism and people-pleasing.

For most of my clients, this shows up as a nervous system that is perpetually stuck in "on" mode, constantly scanning for everyone else’s needs while your own stay at the very bottom of an ever-growing to-do list. It’s the late-night rumination over a minor email, the crushing guilt of setting a simple boundary, and the exhausting performance of trying to "have it all" without ever showing the cracks. If you’re tired of living for the validation of others and ready to break the cycle of self-criticism, you aren't alone. You deserve to feel calmer, stronger, and finally allowed to exist as a whole person, not just a set of roles.

Perfectionism and people-pleasing don’t exist in a vacuum; they tend to leak into every corner of our lives, making already difficult seasons feel impossible. When you’re used to "performing" and being the reliable one, it makes navigating life's hurdles feel like you’re constantly failing at a test you didn't sign up for.

I work with women who are navigating the messy intersection of:

Where are you feeling stuck?

No matter which "area" you’re in, the work remains the same: we move from surface-level coping to deep, transformative healing so you can stop just surviving your life and start actually living it.

Therapy That Goes Deeper Than "Just Coping"

I’m Kate, a Registered Social Worker (MSW, RSW) and EMDR therapist. I help millennial women break old patterns of perfectionism and anxiety so they can build a life that feels sustainable.

At Anchor Point Therapy, we prioritize deep, transformative work rather than just surface-level strategies. Whether we are using EMDR to process past wounds, doing inner-child work to understand where your need to please started, or using nervous system regulation to manage the anxiety of saying "no," I am here to help you find your footing again.

The Anchor Point Process: How we move forward

A woman with beachy waves looking happy and grounded, representing the emotional ease and self-acceptance achieved through individual therapy at Anchor Point Therapy.

Healing isn't about "fixing" you; it's about helping you return to yourself. My approach is relational and nervous system-informed, meaning we go beyond surface-level coping.

The Landing: We start by regulating your nervous system. Before we can do the deep work, we need to create a steady, safe space for you to exhale and stop "performing."

1

The Deep Work: We move into the "why." Using tools like EMDR, IFS (Inner-Child Work), and ACT, we identify the root of your people-pleasing and process the experiences that keep you feeling stuck.

2

The Integration: You walk away with a different relationship to yourself. You’ll gain practical tools to set boundaries, manage perfectionist spirals, and show up in your life with more ease and clarity.

FAQ: Common Questions about Therapy

Can therapy really help with perfectionism?

1

Yes. Perfectionism is often a protection mechanism. By moving from self-criticism toward self-compassion using nervous system–informed tools, we can dial down the "all-or-nothing" thinking and help you feel worthy without the constant hustle.

What is the connection between people-pleasing and anxiety?

2

Often, people-pleasing is a survival strategy used to keep things "calm" or to feel liked. This creates a cycle of internal anxiety because you are constantly monitoring others. When we address the underlying anxiety and build self-trust, the compulsive need to please begins to fade.

Is virtual therapy effective for deep trauma work?

3

Absolutely. Many women find they can go deeper into the work when they are in their own safe, familiar environment. All sessions are 100% secure and PHIPA compliant.
